IGNITOR, IDL 120VAC | IDXLIGN1931
The Hayward IDXLIGN1931 Ignitor (120V) is a component in Hayward Universal H-Series Low NOx pool heaters, responsible for igniting the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber. It ensures reliable and efficient heater operation.
- Power Activation:
- When the heater is turned on, the control board sends 120V power to the ignitor.
- The system runs safety checks to confirm proper airflow, gas pressure, and other conditions.
- Ignitor Heats Up:
- The ignitor, made of durable silicon nitride, quickly heats to around 1,800°F or higher.
- This high temperature is required to ignite the natural gas or propane.
- Gas Valve Opens & Ignition Occurs:
- Once the ignitor reaches the required temperature, the control board signals the gas valve to open.
- The released gas comes into contact with the hot ignitor, creating a flame.
- Flame Sensor Confirms Ignition:
- A flame sensor detects whether ignition was successful.
- If the flame is detected, the heater continues to operate, heating the water.
- If no flame is detected, the system shuts off the gas for safety and attempts re-ignition.
- Heater Runs & Cycles as Needed:
- The burner remains active to heat the water as it flows through the heat exchanger.
- Once the set pool temperature is reached, the heater turns off, and the cycle restarts when needed.
