IGNITOR | IDXLIGN1930
The Hayward IDXLIGN1930 Ignitor Component in Hayward Universal H-Series Low NOx pool heaters. It ignites the gas-air mixture in the combustion chamber, allowing the heater to produce heat for warming pool water.
- Power-Up & Safety Check:
- When the heater is turned on, the control board sends power to the ignitor.
- The heater runs safety checks to ensure proper gas pressure and airflow before ignition.
- Ignitor Heats Up:
- The silicon nitride ignitor quickly heats to a high temperature (around 1,800°F or higher).
- This intense heat is necessary to ignite the natural gas or propane in the burner.
- Gas Valve Opens & Ignition Occurs:
- Once the ignitor reaches the required temperature, the gas valve opens, releasing gas into the combustion chamber.
- The ignitor provides enough heat to ignite the gas, creating a controlled flame.
- Flame Sensor Confirms Ignition:
- The flame sensor detects the flame and signals the control board that ignition was successful.
- If no flame is detected, the system will shut off the gas for safety and attempt re-ignition.
- Heater Operates & Maintains Temperature:
- The burner continues to heat the water as it flows through the heat exchanger.
- Once the set pool temperature is reached, the system shuts off the burner, and the cycle repeats as needed.
