The hose float was built for the hose kit that takes the water from the dedicated return line and disperses the water into the cleaner giving it the power to suck and pull dirt and debris off your pool’s surface. Without this float, the hose would fall to the depths of your pool. Weighing your cleaner down and causing impediments throughout the surface, disrupt the cleaning process.

This float is grey and is strategically placed throughout the length of the hose’s assembly to keep it above the water and from being tangled up which would cause disruption for the cleaner. A great troubleshooting tip if the hose continues to get tangled is to first check the backup valve and whether it is operating correctly. If that’s not the issue then it may be due to the placement of the float. You can fix this by moving the float directly behind the back-up valve which should resolve the issue and allow the hose to be tangle-free.
